Markus Franke

Markus Franke is Co-Founder of Mento, a digital platform used to launch and operate multi-currency stablecoins - digital currencies for payments, cross-border transactions (remittances), the credit & settlement markets. Markus is also a co-creator of Celo, a permissionless, open-source blockchain infrastructure built for the real world, with thou-
sands of projects live in over 150 countries; mobile-first and carbon-negative from its launch. Deutsche Telekom is part of the global validator set securing the Celo blockchain and providing oracle services.
Markus is an economist who has been working for over 20 years at the intersection of economics, finance and technology: in traditional finance (J.P. Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Allianz), as a post-doc researcher (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Columbia Business School NYC, HKUST), and in the Web3 ecosystem (Board Member of cLabs, Chief Economist at Celo Foundation). Markus holds a PhD in economics and is advisor and board member to many projects in the technology space.
