Johann König
Entrepreneur and Art Mediator
Johann König is an entrepreneur and art mediator. In 2002 he founded the eponymous gallery for contemporary art in Berlin, which today represents over 40 artists. In 2015, KÖNIG GALERIE moved into the former St. Agnes Church in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In 2017, König opened KÖNIG LONDON in a former underground car park in London. Until the end of 2020, KÖNIG TOKIO showed exhibitions in the MCM House in Ginza. In April 2021, KÖNIG SEOUL opened in the MCM Haus in the Korean capital. In March 2020, Johann König started the "10am series," a series of live talks on Instagram with artists, art collectors, and creatives from around the world and in October 2020, he launched his own podcast, "Was mit Kunst” followed by the podcast "Kunst Crime" in March 2020. In June 2020 "Messe in St. Agnes” was held in the KÖNIG GALERIE, offering more than 200 primary and secondary market artworks for sale. Following its huge success: the concept was repeated in September 2020 and the next edition will take place in June 2021.
